ATTENTION: MISSING BABY
Guys I really need your help. My cousin’s girlfriend stopped taking her medication and put out an emergency protective order against him using false claims. He showed up to court today to dispute it and she never showed, so it got thrown out of court. He was allowed to contact her at that point and her phone was turned off; he went home and it was empty. According to her landlord and her work, she quit her job and moved out four days ago. She took Peyton and ran.
The mother’s name is Tara Ricci. She’s about five foot two, has short red hair and freckles. She’s a nurse and she’s a veteran of the Iraq war. She has severe depression and PTSD and without her medication, Peyton could be in danger.
Peyton is less than a year old. She has a strawberry hemangioma on her belly on her right side. She could be under the name Peyton Sophia Ricci or Peyton Sophia Graves, or even Peyton Sophia Ricci Graves.
They’ve been living here in Louisville and Tara Ricci has family in Maryland, but she may be anywhere. She’s apparently driving a new vehicle, but has been known to be driving a silver or champagne colored SUV.
My cousin’s lawyer says he can’t put out an Amber Alert until he gets official joint custody next Friday. They’ve been gone four days already and there’s no telling where they are or even if Peyton is okay.
Please signal boost and keep an eye out; they may be in Maryland or still in Kentucky, but they could be anywhere. If you see them, PLEASE TELL THE POLICE OR SEND ME A MESSAGE, PREFERABLY BOTH.
"I am an unapologetic marriage abolitionist, which means that I believe that the financial and legalized structural advantages currently attached to the institution of marriage in this country should not be linked to the practice of marriage as such, but should be available to all people who want to collaborate on home, family, support and love on their own terms."

Word. It’s like, I think it’s fucking ridiculous that same-sex marriage is not allowed in massive chunks of the US, but I don’t like the institution of marriage as it exists either.

There needs to be an overhaul, a re-thinking of how we form unions — for romantic reasons, monetary reasons, whatever reason you have to come together with another person (people) to build a life together.

Ivy League school janitor graduates with honors
For years, Gac Filipaj mopped floors, cleaned toilets and took out trash at Columbia University.A refugee from war-torn Yugoslavia, he eked out a living working for the Ivy League school. But Sunday was payback time: The 52-year-old janitor donned a cap and gown to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in classics.
As a Columbia employee, he didn’t have to pay for the classes he took. His favorite subject was the Roman philosopher and statesman Seneca, the janitor said during a break from his work at Lerner Hall, the student union building he cleans.
“I love Seneca’s letters because they’re written in the spirit in which I was educated in my family — not to look for fame and fortune, but to have a simple, honest, honorable life,” he said.
His graduation with honors capped a dozen years of studies, including readings in ancient Latin and Greek.

Above is a picture of Omar Khadr, abducted at 15, now 25 years old, he has spent a third of his life at Guantánamo Bay for a crime he never committed.

“Khadr is accused of throwing a grenade that killed a U.S. soldier in 2002 and conspiring with Al Qaeda. There is no credible evidence to substantiate the charges, some of which date to when he was 11 years old. Charges were not even brought against him until 2007. If convicted, the Obama administration will seek a life sentence for Khadr, prosecutor David Iglesias indicated. Army Col. Pat Parrish, the tribunal’s presiding judge, on Monday denied defense appeals to bar confessions Khadr made under torture. In hearings held in May an unnamed U.S. military officer admitted that his interrogation unit threatened to gang rape and kill Khadr if he did not cooperate with an interrogation session at Afghanistan’s notorious Bagram air base in 2002. A U.S. military psychiatrist has said that Khadr, who has now spent a third of his life at Guantánamo, is under extreme psychological stress after years of living through torture, abuse and appalling conditions. He has been subjected to stress positions, beatings, humiliations—including being used as a “human mop” to clean up urine, threatened attack with dogs, long periods of extreme isolation and sensory as well as sleep deprivation. How come we barely hear about cases like these in the news? If it happend to a white christian male, we would constantly hear about it, but when it happens to a muslim from Afghanistan, silence.
Omar Khadr has himself said:

Khadr wrote to his Canadian attorney Dennis Edney, on May 27. “And if the world doesn’t see all this, to what world am I being released to? A world of hate … and discrimination.”

Lt. Col. Frakt has said:

“It is appalling that the Obama administration is allowing charges to go forward in the military commissions against Omar Khadr. Clearly, Omar Khadr, as a juvenile of 15 at the time of his alleged offences, could not be tried as an adult in federal court, so they are allowing him to be tried as an adult in the military commissions, potentially making him the first child soldier to be tried and convicted as a war criminal in world history.” (Read more here)

did you know that rape is considered a form of acceptable torture at guantánamo? you heard me. ‘questioning’ at gitmo includes sexually assaulting and torturing prisoners.

We used to hear about this kid in Canada all the time. He is a Canadian citizen, and the Canadian government tried to get him released for years. It’s my understanding, though, that they’re not really trying anymore, which I’m sure has nothing to do with Stephen Harper’s increasingly totalitarian control over everything the government does.
